Earth’s Ice Sheets Going Faster Than Expected

west-antarctic-ice-sheet The world is losing its ice cover faster than anyone thought possible. Glaciers, which are particularly susceptible to climate change, are receding at an accelerated pace, according to the National Geographic magazine.

Scientists have also reported that the collapse of the West Antarctica ice sheet, which could raise sea levels by several feet, has already begun.

The “good news” is that the collapse of the glaciers could take anywhere between 200 and 1,000 years. The bad news is that the collapse may now be inevitable.
